Easter On The Miniature Burke Lake Train
Shot On A Panasonic HC-X1
Every Easter, Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, Virginia hosts a "Baskets & Bunnies" Spring kickoff event with fun for the whole family. The event also marked the seasonal re-opening of the miniature Central Pacific Huntington steam engine train. I grabbed the camera and followed the train along the route for an old time ride through Burke Lake (video above).

The train runs on weekends and then daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The train has been around since 1967, and I actually used to ride this train as a kid 30 years ago! That is kind of crazy.
The journey is meant for children, but adults can easily fit and ride with their kids. The train travels almost 2 miles, and has views of the lake as well as past a staged old time train station and windmill.
My favorite part about this train is that when I bring my nephew, I get to ride it too! Burke Lake Park is filled with activities and the carousel, train, mini golf, ice cream shop and the lake itself make it a top destination for families.
