The Cherry Blossoms Peak Bloom In Washington DC

Tidal Basin Cherry Blossoms In DC 2018

Shot With A Panasonic HC-X1

It was scheduled "peak blossom" day for the Cherry Blossoms and the weather could not have been better, so I headed down to the mall to capture some of the beauty and the excitement, including a mermaid, which you can see in the above video.

So it turned out the real "full peak" was a few days later, but I still saw a lot of great stuff. I actually started the day out at Nats Opening Day and walked (with my feet) all the way to the Washington Monument to take in some of the beauty.

From the Washington Monument I headed on to the Tidal Basin, across from the Jefferson Memorial. The crowd here was huge. There were dozens of people boating in the Tidal Basin, young people Snap Chatting their cherry blossom pics and tourists from all over looking at...trees.

Oh...I also ran into a mermaid princess...so that happened.

One of the keys to the opening week of the cherry blossoms in DC is to not drive. The traffic was horrific, especially considering it was a work day. The metro was a solid choice. I actually walked all the way to Arlington Cemetery to get on the train.

If you have lived here your whole life it can be a little bothersome with all the tourists roaming around, but the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin are definitely something you should at least try to take a walk past in DC.
