In between posting blogs about each day of the 100 Days of Business and the major activities I undertake, I also want to share different articles that could be useful to Entrepreneur’s. The first one comes from the aptly named Entrepreneur dot com.
The article, 6 Things You Can Do Every Day to Become a Better Entrepreneur, gives some tips on taking control of each day to be more successful in business.
The first 3 things in this very brief article reminded me of the book “The Miracle Morning”. Plan the night before, wake up early and start the day with positivity. These are a few of the tenants of the Hal Elrod book that was one of my favorite reads of the last few years. The Miracle Morning gives some really good tips for preparing for a successful day. Here are a few of my tips inspired by (or taken from) the book:
Line up the clothes you will be wearing the next day, before bed.
Turn off your computer/TV 1 hour (or more) before you want to go to sleep.
Put your phone across the room so you don’t check it.
Put your phone across the room so you have to get up to turn off your alarm.
When you wake up, chug a glass of water.
Don’t check your email when you wake up!
There are a lot of other things I’ve tried to add into my daily routine from the SAVERS acronym you can find in the Miracle Morning, but the tips above have been super vital.
The next 2 are don’t give your time away and work on one project at a time. I group these two together because they are both time wasters that absolutely DESTROY productivity. The average person takes 25 minutes to refocus after being interrupted (learned from this lecture) and multitasking, well it isn’t possible. Trying to multitask and procrastination have been 2 of my issues that I’ve been attacking during the 100 Days.
Finally, the Entrepreneur article talks about respecting your work-life boundaries. While I’m writing this article, I’ve been working nonstop for days on end, from when I wake up and grab my computer until I fall asleep with the computer next to me. A burn-out would not be good, and that is why the 100 Days of Business tries to make sure I do different types of tasks each day.
Becoming a better entrepreneur is definitely something I want to achieve. I’ll keep these 6 things in mind as my quest continues.
