Sully Plantation Park In Chantilly, Virginia
Shot With A Panasonic HC-X1
I grew up only a few miles from Sully Historic Site and I drove past the sign on Route 28 hundreds of times, but I never took the time to find out how to actually get there. That changed after I decided to finally open up Google Maps. I took my camera to the park to check out the planes landing (watch the airplane video), the gardens and everything else (video above).

The park is located on the other side of the exit for the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum and is free to visit. They have a visitor center, some historic buildings, a garden trail and a nature trail. There is also a great picnic area.
The Plantation house and grounds are not much to look at, so you may want to take one of the daily tours given on the hour every day except Tuesday (of course I went to the park on a Tuesday, lol).
The park also has a garden which was just starting to bloom when I arrived. The place was packed with photographers who I think were filming the planes landing as well as getting nature shots of all the flowers. A really relaxing place for a stroll.
Check it out on a non-Tuesday, take a tour, show up for an event or have a picnic while watching the plane land. The park really is a hidden gem.
