Sully Historic Site Airplanes Landing At Dulles
Shot With A Panasonic HC-X1
Growing up miles from Dulles Airport, I had always wondered where a good place was to watch the planes land (Inspired by the scene from Wayne's World). Well, not only did I find a good spot for that, but I found a great place for a picnic; Sully Historic Site (Sully Plantation) off of Route 28 in Chantilly, Virginia. I took my camera out and captured some of the airplanes coming into IAD (above).

The planes come down over Route 28 and pass right by the grounds of Sully Plantation. The park has many more things to do and is also a great place for a picnic. Also, this park is hidden away, so it isn't as crowded as some other local parks.
Camera Stuff: Capturing the planes was a breeze with the great zoom on the Panasonic HC-X1. I did not use a CPL filter, but that would have made the footage a little better perhaps. Although the completely overexposed sky kind of makes the planes stand out.
You can learn more about the non-plane part of the park in my other Sully Plantation blog here.
