Panasonic HC-X1 Video Camcorder
New Firmware Version 1.11 - May 2018
On May 18th, 2018, Panasonic released a Firmware Update for the Panasonic HC-X1 4K Video Camera. It is available via free download on Panasonic's website (sort of...keep reading). Unfortunately, the update only seems to fix some unnamed minor bugs and does not bring any major changes to the camcorder.
It only takes a few minutes to download the file and install and it isn't too complicated. To find out how, just watch my instructional video above OR download the official install instructions direct from Panasonic.
I'm really hoping Panasonic fixes a major problem on their website before you watch this video and read this blog. That problem is that the Firmware file download link ... IS BROKEN! But luckily, I found a quick work-around that lets you download the file (shown in the video)
Big shoutout to one of my YouTube friends, Fred Rijckenberg, who let me know that the Firmware had been released. I guess it came out the morning of May 18th, so I was able to download it the same day and create the video above.
One of the things I almost did, was download the Firmware from Panasonic Japan, because it was the first thing that came up on Google and it was in English and didn't look Japanese. I'm not sure if that Firmware is any different, or if it changes the camera to Japanese language, but I didn't want to find out. I recommend finding the direct link from Panasonic with your own country or region. (Let me know in a comment if I'm wrong).

As I mentioned, Panasonic didn't give any specifics of what this patch fixes. So if you notice anything new, anything fixed or any new bugs that appear, be sure to let us know in the comments.
